Driving Directions to Trailhead
From Palisades Visitor Center continue up Catalina Highway for 3.2 miles to the turn off for Sykes Knob Road. The parking lot for the trailhead is immediately to the left.
Hike Overview
From the parking lot find the trailhead sign. At the sign, you will see a gate to your left, Soldiers Camp Road directly in front of you, and Sykes Knob Road continuing uphill to the right. Take Soldiers Camp Road. Continue to bare left at the next intersection as you walk past several cabins. After .2 miles, the road will turn left, and a trail will begin on the right. You will see a metal sign for Sunset Trail #90 here.
This trail contours around a southern exposure of Mount Lemmon, providing views of Pusch Ridge Wilderness and the boulder-filled Marshall Gulch. Once you reach Marshall Gulch Trailhead (there will be a bathroom and picnic area), you’ve reached your turn around point.
Safety
This trail does have some sections that are very rocky, out-sloped, and have steep drop-offs. Please take care as you traverse. This trail a popular mountain biking trail. Please use caution while you’re on your trek.
